Construction of STPP to be completed by Nov

Mancherial (Adilabad): N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), said that efforts would be made to complete the construction of Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) at Jaipur in Adilabad district by November 15 this year. Sridhar, who took over as the CMD of SCCL last month, visited the site of the thermal plant on Sunday and inspected the construction work. He interacted with the officials to learn about the progress of the work. Later speaking to the media persons, he said that the construction work of Singareni Thermal Power Plant gained pace following the visit of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to the site of the plant. He said the Singareni management would take measures to help the State overcome the power crisis. Sridhar said two units at the plant would be able to generate 1200 megawatts of power from March, 2016.

Stating that the Chief Minister advised Singareni management to soon start another thermal power unit with a capacity of 600 units at the site, he said the proposal would be discussed at the ensuing Singareni Board meeting.

He said coal required for the thermal power plant would be collected from the mines situated at Bellampally, Mandamarri and Srirampur.

Singareni Project and Planning officer Manohar and officers representing different sections of SCCL were present.
