To preside over the national seminar on ‘PPP and FDI in Indian Railways

Hyderabad: The Centre for Transportation Research and Management (CTRAM), New Delhi, an autonomous body of transport professionals, is organising the 15th national seminar on ‘PPP and FDI in Indian Railways’ on Monday at the Indoor Auditorium of Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunication (IRISET) at Tarnaka in Secunderabad.

Governor E S L Narasimhan will be the chief guest and the Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will preside over the inaugural session of the seminar.

Railway Board member (Traffic) Devi Prasad Pande and South Central Railway general manager PK Srivastava will also attend the seminar.

The day-long seminar will see eminent speakers from corporate houses, trade and industry present their viewpoint and papers on the subject of Public Private Partnership (PPP) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indian Railways. Experts in this subject including senior, retired and serving officials of Indian Railways will participate in the deliberations during the seminar.

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will also visit Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad, the headquarters of South Central Railway and interact with officers and railway employees’ unions of SCR etc. During the course of his maiden visit, the Minister of Railways will take part in several programmes in the city.

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will later visit Secunderabad Railway Station to flag off two new express trains announced in the Railway Budget - 2014 Viz., Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam AC Express (Weekly) and Nanded – Aurangabad Express (Weekly) via remote video link at 11:00 am.

This will be followed by an interactive session with the media and receiving suggestions, representations from various stakeholders’ associations (passengers/ freight/ traders etc.) at Secunderabad Station. Subsequently, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will have a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Telangana Secretariat before leaving for New Delhi in the evening.
