Hyderabad: Union Ministry of Minority Affairs Joint Secretary Rakesh Mohan on Thursday announced that the Central government was likely to give clearance for the bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board by February. Speaking to media persons after visiting various organisations located in Haj House at Nampally in Hyderabad on Thursday, Rakesh Mohan said the Wakf Board would be bifurcated soon after the Centre gave its nod. He appreciated the schemes formulated for the welfare and development of minorities in Telangana, their implementation and the budgetary allocations.

He said the welfare schemes of the government of India such as ‘Earn while Learn’, ‘Nayee Udan’ and ‘Ustad’, should be implemented effectively here. He asked the State government authorities to send proposals for Civil Services coaching to the government of India. Rakesh Mohan said the Centre utilised 91 per cent Budget allocated for Minority Affairs Ministry during last year. He also informed that the Centre had decided to sanction scholarships to all eligible candidates.

On the issue of Rubat (guest house) facility to Haj pilgrims belonging to Telangana, he said the previous government had constituted a Group of Ministers consisting of Gulam Nabi Azad, Salman Khursheed and Rahman Khan, which reviewed the Haj affairs also and had made recommendation that the Haj Affairs should be transferred from Ministry of External Affairs to Ministry of Minorities Affairs.

Special Secretary, Minority Welfare Department, Syed Omer Jaleel, Minorities Welfare Director Mohammed Jalaluddin Akber, SHC Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor, MFC GM Syed Vilayat Hussain, Wakf Board CEO Sultan Mohiuddin and other officials were present on the occasion.
