Conduct degree examinations at their own campuses

Karimnagar: There are 16 government degree colleges and 120 private colleges in the Karimnagar district. Some private colleges are using their own colleges as examination centre (self centres in Yellareddypet and Raikal mandals) and some other colleges are using shifting (exchange) method for centres with other colleges.

Students organisations are staging dharnas for a week opposing self centres and alleging that mass copying took place earlier in those centres. They also alleged that by exerting pressure on the officials of the Shatavahana University, the managements of private degree colleges with help of the political leaders are allotting self centres for the degree annual examinations.

ABVP district convener Naga Samudram along with other student union leaders demanded cancellation of the self centres . They submitted a memorandum to the Controller of Examination Prof.T Bharath. When asked about the self centres, the University officials said that since there is no option for other centres in that areas and it would be difficult for the students to go to distant places to write the examination,’’ we allotted self centres’’.

They also said that by visiting those mandals where self centres are allotted we examined nearby colleges and came to know that it is not possible to conduct the examinations in other colleges which do not have university permission.’’ We are also looking at possibilities for the decision to be taken for changing of self centres,’’ officials said.
