The Haj Committee of India has announced the quota for Haj 2015 for the two Telugu-speaking States. According to Telangana State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor, the Telangana State got a quota of 2,760 as against a total of 16,963 applications. He said a total of 1,537 pilgrims were already selected under reserved categories.

Hyderabad: The Haj Committee of India has announced the quota for Haj 2015 for the two Telugu-speaking States. According to Telangana State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor, the Telangana State got a quota of 2,760 as against a total of 16,963 applications. He said a total of 1,537 pilgrims were already selected under reserved categories. This includes 643 pilgrims under Reserved Category A (of 70+ years old applicants) and 894 candidates under Reserved Category B (4th time applicants).

Now Qurrah (draw of lots) will be held for remaining 1,223 seats among 15,426 applicants, he said. Similarly a quota of 2,245 Haj pilgrims has been allotted to Andhra Pradesh out of which 222 pilgrims were selected without Qurrah under reserved categories. Qurrah will be held for remaining 2,023 seats among 3,618 candidates.

Qurrah for selection of pilgrims from Telangana will be held at 11 am on 18th March at Haj House, Nampally. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali will be the chief guest while MP, MLA and MLC concerned will also attend. The Qurrah for Andhra Pradesh pilgrims will be held at 3 pm at the Haj House, Nampally in the presence of AP Minorities Welfare Minister MR Palle Raghunatha Reddy.
