On Wednesday, anxiety levels prevailed at Osmania University as students pelted stones and clashed with police while staging a march to Telangana state assembly. The students who began their protest from Arts College demanded the government to immediately fill one lakh job vacancies while holding placards and banners, raising slogans against the Government.

Alleging that the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has not fulfilled his word to fill all the vacancies after formation of Telangana state, the protestors claimed that students played a key role in formation of the separate state and demanded justice to the unemployed youth. However, police stopped them at NCC Gate in view of the ongoing budget session of the assembly. The students retaliated by pelting stones on police, who responded with using their force and arresting few protestors.

The JAC comprising various student groups alleged that its leaders including President K. Manavata Roy were arrested by the police early on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, KCR who stated in the assembly on Saturday that vacancies will be filled in two years and those notifications for the same will be issued at regular intervals also said that after K. C. Kamalnathan Committee report submission, exact number of vacancies will be known.

The JAC were not satisfied with KCR’s statement and alleged that the government is adopting delaying tactics.
