Hyderabad: Major Irrigation and Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao has made it clear that the government will extend financial assistance to all the eligible youth under Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme.Speaking in the Assembly on Wednesday, Harish Rao said that the Government is ready to spend funds to any extent on Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme.The scheme was already given wide-publicity.

Reiterating that the Government is wedded to the welfare of SCs and STs, Harish Rao announced that the Government will supply free power to the families belonging to SCs who use below 50 Units per month. The Government will construct Ambedkar Bhavans in three more districts including Hyderabad and renovation works will be taken up for the Ambedkar Bhavan located at Lower Tank Bund in Hyderabad.

Making it clear that the Government will continue the Post-Matriculation Scholarships, the Minister said that the existing mess charges for the students are adequate. The Government will enhance the cosmetic charges, which are now Rs.50 for boys and Rs.75 for girls, after discussing the issue with the Chief Minister. He assured the House that the cosmetic charges will be increased from April 1 onwards. The Government will put its efforts to reduce the dropouts of Minority students.
