The issue of motor vehicle tax on private carriers between Telangana and AP has hot up after the TS government issued a circular that henceforth buses, lorries etc coming from AP have to pay taxes as done by other states.
The TS transport minister P. Mahender Reddy said that the decision was as per court directions.The TS state has suffered huge losses and hence after talks with AP travel managements and AP transport minister, the tax issue has been launched from midnight today. "A cabinet sub committee will be set up soon for management and processing of the check posts at all borders."
One private bus operator Kesineni group has decided to not stop service and instead take the issue to court as Telangana has no right to slap such taxes as long as Hyderabad is the joint capital of both the states.
Following the Telengana government announcement that they will tax the buses coming from other states from midnight at the specially set up check posts, many operators have suspended their operations.
MP Kesineni Nani said that AP bus travel managements plan to approach the courts on the issue tomorrow and that they will not stop any such advance reservations.
