Hyderabad: Three people were killed as unseasonal rains lashed several parts of Telangana since Saturday, officials said on Sunday. The rains have thrown normal life out of gear and caused widespread damage to the standing crops, they said.A woman was killed in a wall collapse in Nizamabad district while a couple was electrocuted in Warangal town when a live wire snapped due to high velocity winds and fell on their house. A government school building collapsed in Atmakur in Sadashivpet mandal of Naglonda district, damaging 15 computers. A major tragedy was averted as the building collapsed on Saturday night.

Heavy rainfall has inundated low-lying areas in Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Medak, and Mahbubnagar districts. The rain accompanied by strong winds uprooted trees, damaged standing crops and disrupted traffic. Electricity supply was also affected in some districts, officials said.The state has been receiving rains since Saturday under the impact of low pressure area and the Met Office has forecast more rains over the next two to three days.

The unseasonal rains have dealt a severe blow to mango farmers. The crop in hundreds of acres in Nalgonda district has been damaged.Hyderabad and adjoining Ranga Reddy district are also receiving incessant rain since Saturday night. Low-lying areas were inundated. Stagnated rain water and choked drains disrupted traffic at many places in Hyderabad. Roads in busy areas like Lakdi ka Pul, Abids, Nampally, Koti, Amberpet, Secunderabad, Tarnaka and Uppal were inundated. Workers of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation were tackling the water-logging problem, civic officials said.
