With the Telangana government agreeing to hike the salaries of the priests and temple staff, the three day strike was called off. Each temple will be granted Rs 6,000 by the government of which Rs 4,500 would be paid to priests Rs 1,500 for conducting the rituals.

The priests’ demands were put forward by the Endowments Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy to the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who agreed to hike the salaries along with a special Telangana increment.


However, the Chief Minister sought time to implement the payment of salaries through the treasury on the same level as the government staff. The leader of the priests’ joint action committee, Mr G. Bhanumurthy expressed confidence over the Chief Minister approving to the demand to pay salaries from the treasury.
