Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) students voiced their solidarity with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, students pan India ‘No Colour’ campaign against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman of the institute.


The university students who boycotted classes on Tuesday staged a dharna against the appointment of Chauhan. The students raised slogans against the Central government’s decision and demanded that Chauhan step down immediately. The protesting students alleged that it was a political appointment without the consent of the concerned department.

They also alleged that the Centre was saffronising the institutions in the country and the appointment of Chauhan who had a right leaning was an instance for this. “Only artists should be appointed as the chairman of the institute.


A BJP member was appointed as the chairman who is not an artist,” B Gopi, Secretary, SFI, JNAFAU campus alleged. The Fine Arts students said they would protest till the Central government removed Chauhan from the post.
