The competition for TRS ticket for the Warangal Lok Sabha by-election is hotting up. Even as several TRS leaders were trying for the party ticket to contest the election, the Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA) leaders have asked the party leadership to field their leader as the party nominee.

The association leaders, speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Sunday, proposed the name of a senior leader in the association, Dr Bongu Ramesh, also called as Barigela Ramesh, to field in the election, on behalf of the TRS. The TGDA state president, M Veeresham, general secretary Putla Srinivas, treasurer K Ram Singh, district unit president K Ashok Anand, general secretary Kothagattu Srinivas and others appealed the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to positively consider Ramesh’s candidature.

Every section that participated in separate Telangana movement was given its due share in political sphere. But the medical fraternity was not given any opportunity to have their representation in the State politics, Dr Veeresham said. Warangal Parliament by-election is a good opportunity to fill such void, he added.

Along with several JACs, the Medical JAC led by the TGDA has worked for separate Telangana cause. Dr Ramesh, in association with Telangana JAC, had actively organised several programmes like ‘medical deeksha’ with one lakh people at Gandhi Hospital and organised medical camps.

“Ramesh deserves the TRS party ticket. Fielding him as the party nominee would also provide a representation to the medical fraternity having 5,000 doctors and one lakh employees in the State” TGDA general secretary Dr Srinivas said. ‘Dr. Ramesh is a young leader and has the ability to lead people.

He is a local man and graduated from Kakatiya Medical College, hence he would enjoy the voters’ support here, said association treasurer Ram Singh.

Dr Ramesh belongs to Vellampalli village near Parkal in the district and has been working as general surgeon (Assistant Professor) at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad. The association leaders Dr Nagender, A Paripurna Chary and others were present.
