Govt to take care of teenager's future

Hyderabad: Moved by the plight of Pratyusha, the girl who was tortured by her father and step-mother and now undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao along with his wife Shobha Rani, and daughter K Kavitha, visited Prath- yusha on Saturday.


In an effort to boost her morale, the Chief Minister told the girl to forget the past and start a new life. He told her that she should become a very bold girl and should grow up in life and should stand by and support other children like her. KCR said that the government would take care of the entire medical expenses and would also ensure that she would get best of education.


The Chief Minister said that Pratyusha would be given a house and that he would also take the responsibility of her marriage. In a rare gesture, the Chief Minister invited her to stay at his house for sometime after getting discharged from hospital. He said that he would admit her in a reputed college with hostel facilities. Come to my house during holidays. My daughter Kavitha will be there for you. Police protection will also be provided, Rao told the teenager.


He said children should be the apple of every parent’s eye but her story is a very different and rare kind. The teenager’s biological father and stepmother almost killed her with mental and physical torture even making her drink toilet cleaners. But then, he told the 19-year old Pratyusha to forget the past. He said he himself would be her ‘guardian’ for the rest of the life.


Meanwhile, briefing the Chief Minister about her health condition, doctors stated that she needs to stay in hospital for another week. The Chief Minister directed Collector and Cyberabad Police Commissioner to take care of the girl till then. When Rao asked her if she wanted to say anything, Pratyusha expressed her interest to pursue B.Sc (Nursing).

Stating that she was still getting dreams about her step mother beating her severel, she urged Chief Minister to ensure strict punishment for her father and stepmother. In response, Rao said that henceforth she would be secure and safe. Action would be taken against the two according to rules. Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, MP Suman, CMO officials were among those who were also present.
