Speaking at a public meeting at Nakrekal in the district, the Irrigation Minister said the demands of striking gram panchayat workers, who were paid a mere Rs 1,500 a month, would be rewarded soon.

Speaking at a public meeting at Nakrekal in the district, the Irrigation Minister said the demands of striking gram panchayat workers, who were paid a mere Rs 1,500 a month, would be rewarded soon.


The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao remained quite rigid on the issue as some forces had been trying to backmail the government. But, the Chief Minister was in fact inclined to accept the demands of the Gram Panchayat workers, he said.The State government would soon address the grievances of the workers. He advised the workers to call off the strike and join the duties.

Referring to the bad condition of the Musi reservoir, he alleged that the Congress leaders in the district, including K Jana Reddy, Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, made use of the guest house of Musi project for their celebrating parties, but had never visited the Musi project during the Congress regime.

He announced that measures would be taken up to ensure irrigation facility to two crops under the Musi river ayacut. He promised that the government would take required measures to restore Musi reservoir to its past glory, he said. Showering sops on the people of Nakrekal, Harish Rao said that a lemon market would be set up near National Highway 65 in Nakrekal. In addition to this, Pedda Cheruvu would be developed as a mini tank bund in Nakerkal at cost of Rs 3.5 crores.


Measures would be taken up to restore Chandupatla cheruvu. Power Minister G Jagdish Reddy, Deputy Chairman of Legislative council N Vidhya Sagar, Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, Thungathurthy MLA G Kishore and others were also present.
