Varsities Bill likely to be tabled in Assembly
The Telangana government is likely to table the Telangana Universities bill in the next assembly session. According to sources the government is making all efforts to tweak the Andhra Pradesh Universities Act and make its own. In this regard, a high-level committee chaired by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari met here on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is likely to table the Telangana Universities bill in the next assembly session. According to sources the government is making all efforts to tweak the Andhra Pradesh Universities Act and make its own. In this regard, a high-level committee chaired by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari met here on Tuesday.
Among those who were present in the meeting were Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and higher education officials. According to the sources, the government had studied Universities Acts of various states and in particular the Gujarat Universities Act to prepare the draft Telangana Universities Bill. It is said that the bill would propose to have experts as Chancellors of Universities instead of the normal practice of the Governor being the Chancellor.
