CSIR-IICT to set up Science park at Narayanaguda
CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, a constituent of CSIR, Government of India, is a leading research Institute in the area of chemical sciences.

The core strength of IICT lies in Organic Chemistry, till date more than 150 technologies developed by CSIR-IICT are now in commercial production and in service of the mankind.

To promote science among the school and college going children CSIR-IICT has planned for a "Science Park" at its Narayanguda premises. The "Science Park", will be showcasing the significant technologies from entire CSIR from all over India (37 laboratories), which will be kept open for students, visitors and general public to popularise and promote science. Some of the key projects of CSIR-IICT of social relevance will be showcased:

Membrane technology for pure drinking water in fluorosis affected areas of our country.

"Samadhan Kendra" a rural IT centre for the benefit of the rural populace and farmers.

Pheromones, (organic substances released by the organisms for communication purpose within their own species) as alternatives to pesticides.

Generation of energy (biogas) from kitchen waste and from poultry litter.
Under "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, CSIR-IICT has embarked on a societal mission, to provide clean and safe drinking water in the fluoride affected areas and to educate the school children about personal hygiene and provide good sanitation facilities in Government schools.
The Honourable District Collector of Hyderabad, Ms. K. Nirmala, IAS, Flagged off the "Swachh Bharat Bus" from the CSIR-IICT Science Park at our Narayanaguda premises on 5th August 2015 in the presence of Director, Dr. S. Chandrasekhar at 11AM at Narayanguda, CSIR-IICT (Science Park), near Melkote's children's park, Vitalwadi. In her address she mentioned that we should reduce the gap between the farmers and scientists and come out with much better community based programs for the society.
She also emphasized that scientists should go to farmers/ fields and explore to develop new technologies with them. Ms Nirmala also complimented our scientists by solving the fluoride problems in several villages. She also stressed that our young school students should have more exposure to science and institute like ours should help motivating them.
