With a fight breaking out at Narayana Diploma College in Hayathnagar, four students suffered sever injuries while 11 others were left with minor injuries who are undergoing treatment at a private Hospital in Hayathnagar.

The fight broke out between North Indians and locals – specifically Bihar and Telangana after a small argument took place at the college canteen a few days ago. Nearly 20 persons not belonging from the institution entered the college premises and fought with the students from Telangana.

Five students from Bihar who were admitted in First Year for Mechanical Diploma recently were informed by the seniors also from Bihar that as the Principal of the college was from Bihar, the Biharis got more marks in internal tests. Following which, the freshers started mocking local students which led to an argument between the groups at the college canteen.

When the local students were mocked again over the marks two days ago, they approached the college director Bhagavanth Reddy and complained about the issue. When they didn’t receive any response, an argument broke out between the two groups. The students from Bihar called their friends outside the college when the argument turned violent and attacked the local students on Thursday.

While the Hayathnagar inspector P Srinivasulu stated that the north Indians entered the Second Year Mechanical branch classroom with sticks and attacked the local students, the College Principal Dr Bhagwan Sriram clarified that there no such discrimination in the college and the argument was over some other issue that led to the fight. A case was registered against 12 students that included Anil, Maseed, Dharmendra and Tanveer Alam.
