Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao on Tuesday urged the people to achieve self-sufficiency in the village by using Grama Jyothi programme. Launching the programme at Papatpally and GK Banjara villages under Raghunathapally mandal of Khammam district, Tummala unveiled an audio CD made by V Bhaskar on the Grama Jyothi programme.
Speaking on the occasion he said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao started this programme to turn Mahatma Gandhi’s dream Grama Swaraj (rural administration or governance) into a reality. KCR was keen on pumping in adequate funds for self-sufficiency and human development to achieve all-round growth in the villages, he maintained.
He also asked the village committees to see that every house gets a toilet without further delay. “The villagers should put in concerted efforts for rural governance and go ahead using funds to get all the facilities,” he said. Meanwhile, at Ellampally in Adilabad, Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy launched the Grama Jyothi programme. Speaking on the occasion, Indrakaran said the government was committed to provide all basic amenities and facilities to the villages.
The villagers should voluntarily come forward for their own development, he said. He also stressed the need for coordinated efforts to complete the works based on priority. The government will provide funds and the villagers, who form committees, have to complete the task of addressing their own grievances, Reddy said.
