Headed by former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, DCC president K. Mruthyunjayam, Thotapalli Sadhana Committee convenor K. Linga Murthy, former legislator Bomma Venkateshwar and others participated in the agitation.
As a part of the SRSP flood flow canal project, the Thotapalli reservoir was to provide irrigation sources to the Husnabad Assembly segment. The Congress leaders demanded the release of Rs. 500 crore for the completion of Thotapalli reservoir by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
