Hyderabad: The Nasik district police on Monday appealed to the people of Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) to cooperate with the police and follow guidelines issued for safety during their visit to ‘Simhastha Kumbh Mela’ at Nasik.On Monday, the Nasik police of Maharashtra held a press conference at the city Police Commissioner's office here to explain the security and safety measures adopted for the holy occasion.


Nasik DSP (Rural) Yogesh Chavan said that they were expecting over one crore pilgrims and about 2.5 lakh sadhus during the Kumbh Mela in Nasik. "Adequate security measures are taken to facilitate the public during their visit. We request public not to panic about the rumours which might result in untoward incidents like stampede," he said recalling the death of 17 persons during the Kumbh Mela at Nasik in 2003.
