Nizamabad: The State government had withdrawn its decision on cheap liquor following the appeal by women’s organisations, said TRS MP from Nizamabad K Kavitha on Thursday. The government was determined to root out illicit liquor or gudumba, she said. Kavitha visited the various divisions in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and inspected the condition of underground drainages, sewerage treatment plants (STP) and drinking water system.

Speaking to the media, she said the TRS government was committed to welfare of people and determined to achieve “Bangaru Telangana.” The MP blamed the previous government of turning a blind eye to development of Nizamabad city. The Municipal Corporation had now prepared a master plan for all-round development of the city.

Kavitha estimated that not less than Rs 204 crore was required for expansion of underground drainage scheme. The previous government had released just Rs 94 crore only. She assured the people that the TRS government would take up the developmental schemes foward.

She said there were nearly 40,000 illegal tap connections in city. She urged the council to adopt a resolution for regularisation of the tap connections. Regularisation of tap connection would help increase the revenue of the Municipal Corporation. Nizamabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Aakula Sujatha, Corporation TRS floor leader Yenugandula Murali, Municipal corporetors and officials were present.
