Hyderabad: In bid to transform the teaching methodology and environment in the government schools in the State, the Telangana government has embarked on a project to turn State-run schools into ‘smart schools’.
The Telangana Directorate of School Education (DSE) is on the job to convert two high schools in Hyderabad into smart schools on pilot basis from this academic year. These smart schools will have highly sophisticated infrastructure and digital classrooms.
Besides this, the students would use Aakash tablets for learning. The government intends to make the schools on the lines of the corporate schools in the State.
While the government had planned to announce at the beginning of the academic year, process of rationalisation and transfer of teachers had delayed the smart schools project.
“We want to experiment by taking two schools from Hyderabad. Going by the results, we will make more smart schools in the State,” a senior official of DSE said.
