Mahabubnagar: Even as a report submitted to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department categorically said that the government’s flagship programme – Water Grid – was not feasible as there was acute shortage of groundwater resources, IT Minister KT Rama Rao said the government was determined to solve the drinking water problem in the district in next two years time.

Laying foundation stone for the prestigious Water Grid project at Nagasala village near Jadcherla, Rama Rao claimed that Chandrasekhar Rao was the only Chief Minster in the country to have guts for saying that he would not seek votes if he failed to provide drinking water to every household as promised.

The IT Minister also slammed the Opposition parties for failing to prevent hijacking of Telangana waters and resources to Andhra region by previous governments. Injustice was meted out to Palamur district leading to migration of workers for decades. He said unlike the previous governments,

the TRS government would certainly keep its promise of giving priority to Palamur, which would get back its past glory of abundant greenery, more crop yield by speedy completion of irrigation projects and lakes restoration. Despite criticism and baseless allegations, Chandrashekar Rao was committed to complete the irrigation projects on time with a focus on welfare and development, Rama Rao asserted.

He also alleged that Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu was enacting dramas and coming in the way of development of Telangana by writing a number of letters to the Centre against Palamur and other projects in Telangana.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy said good days were ahead for people of Palamur as the water grid would get fructified in a couple of years. “Chandrashekar Rao is committed to complete all the projects and schemes for the speedy development of all sectors,” he said.
