Harish assures irrigation water to Narayankhed

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday assured supply of irrigation waters to Narayankhed in Medak district by making changes in the design of Pranahita-Chevella project. Reacting to TRS MLC Ramulu Naik’s appeal for drinking and irrigation waters and compensation to farmers on submerged lands, Harish said the government would take appropriate steps to overcome the problems.

The Irrigation Minister said the government was ready to provide timely compensation to the land losers. “We will also offer all help in the future and prevent migration of people to other places for livelihood. Design change to the Pranahita project would ensure water supply to Narayankhed area, he stated.

Harish Rao also noted that Narayankhed area was lagging behind in Mission Kakatiya scheme. The government will take up works related to lakes restoration soon and implement the Water Grid scheme on war-footing to provide drinking water to the people of the area, Harish Rao said. The victims of Singur project will be given compensation soon, he added.
