Warangal: Former Congress MP Sircilla Rajaiah, his wife and their son were arrested for questioning after the politician's daughter-in-law and three young grandsons died in a fire under mysterious circumstances in Warangal in the early hours of Wednesday. Rajaiah’s daughter-in-law Sarika and her three sons – Abhinav (7), and twins Ayan and Sriyan (3) - were burnt to death in the bedroom fire on the first floor of the house in Hanamkonda.

Police took Rajaiah, his wife Madhavi and son Anil to the police commissioner’s office for questioning in the afternoon and later announced their arrest. Police reviewed the FIR that was registered under Section 498A, which was later changed to 302. They also added Section 174 in the FIR.

According to police sources, the body of Sarika was found on the bed and the front portion of her body was fully charred. It is also being suspected that she was perhaps drugged before setting her on fire. The children caught fire later, it is being said.

“We will get more clues after the post mortem and viscera reports are made available to us,” Warangal Police Commissioner Sudhir Babu said, adding that post mortem was postponed to Thursday as doctors were not available at the MGM hospital to conduct the post mortem. It is also said that the cylinder found in the room where Sarika and her three children were charred to death was empty giving rise to suspicion that it was not suicide but murder.
