Hyderabad: The Press Club Hyderabad will celebrate its Golden Jubilee year this month and as a prelude, a poster on the celebrations was released by Media Advisor to Government KV Ramana Chary; Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Commissioner Navin Mittal and Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana at the Press Club on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramana Chary said the celebrations would get the support of the government from all aspects as media is an important tool of governance. He wanted all the journalists to come on one platform and celebrate it while recalling the contribution made by the senior journalists who made this Club a reality a few years ago. “50 years is a great occasion for any institution and I am happy to be associated with the celebrations in my capacity,” said Mittal.

He promised all the support from the government for making the celebrations a memorable affair. He added that issues related to journalists will be solved at the earliest.

Allam Narayana recalled the contributions of journalists who shaped this club over the years and suggested the committee to involve all the seniors. He said the government should own the celebrations and make it a grand affair given the club’s history and role in the Telangana movement. Press Club president R Ravikanth Reddy explained the importance of the celebrations and listed out the events to be held as a part of it. Some of the events include T-20 cricket tournament for media organisations, felicitation of senior journalists, Golden Jubilee lecture by a prominent journalist and get-together of journalists’ families.
