Speaking on the occasion, the Governor E S L Narasimhan underlined the importance of imparting quality education to the children. Educational institutions, he said, must be developed as ‘Saraswathi Nilayams’ rather than ‘Lakshmi Nilayams’. But, these days, many were setting up educational institutions as part of their business ventures which had to be checked, he added.

The Governor moved freely with the children and schoolteachers and wished them success in pursuit of their studies. He enjoyed the rhymes recited by the tiny tots. Earlier, elaborate arrangements were made for the Children’s Day celebration at the Durbar Hall. Special exhibits were on display to educate the children. Birla Planetarium, the Hyderabad Traffic Police and the Nehru Zoo authorities arranged exhibitions, which the children enjoyed the most.
