MLC elections peaceful

Recording a voting per cent of 99.7 per cent, the MLC elections in Mahbubnagar were conducted peacefully on Sunday. The polling centers at all Mandal Parishad Development Offices (MPDO) in the five revenue divisions in the district witnessed voting right from 8 am to 4 pm.

Mahbubnagar: Recording a voting per cent of 99.7 per cent, the MLC elections in Mahbubnagar were conducted peacefully on Sunday. The polling centers at all Mandal Parishad Development Offices (MPDO) in the five revenue divisions in the district witnessed voting right from 8 am to 4 pm. The major revenue divisions where the voting was held include Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Gadwal and Narayanpeta. As per the last reports received Mahbubnagar and Nagarkurnool witnessed 100 per cent voting followed by Gadwal with 99.5 percent, Wanaparthy 99.4 and Narayanpeta 99.3 per cent of voting.

Addressing a media conference, Mahbubnagar Collector Dr T K Sridevi and District Election Officer, along with Joint Collector and returning officer Ramkrishan informed that out of the total of 1,260 votes, 1,256 votes were polled across all the polling centers in the district. Of the 14 MLAs, eight are eligible for votes under ex-officio quota. However, two MPTCs from CPM boycotted the MLC elections.
