Nalgonda: An employee attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze at the petrol bunk, in which he was working, at Avanthipuram of Miryalaguda mandal on Thursday as the management rejected to give him leave.

Sripati Masthan (35) was working as an operator in Rama Sai Filling Station at Avanthipuram. He had apparently been asking his employer for leave for the past three days. When he asked for leave again on Thursday, the petrol pump owner refused. With this, Masthan poured petrol over himself and set himself ablaze.

He was rushed to Miryalaguda Area hospital where the doctors said that he received 90 percent burns. Masthan lives in Jangala Colony in Avanthipuram gram panchayat. Meanwhile, the victim’s family members alleged that Masthan resorted to the action due to the harassment of the management of the petrol bunk. Miryalaguda police registered a case.
