Four held on dacoity charge

NTPC police on Thursday arrested four persons on the charges of waylaying a person and looting money from him on November 27. Addressing newsmen at the NTPC police station Godavarikhani ASP Vishnu S Warrier said that the four accused—Mahender, Sharifuddin of NTPC and Zubair and Afroze of Manchiryal—were travelling in the auto rickshaw driven by Mahender.

On the way they beat their co-passenger Chandraiah and snatched his cell phone and Rs 26,000 in cash. Chandraiah lodged a complaint with the police. The police traced the accused and arrested them on Thursday seizing five cell phones and Rs 3,300 cash from them along with an auto rickshaw.
