Single woman alleges of racism in apartment

Retired IPS officer’s daughter threatens media of legal action for filming her personal activities without permission; says she is being victimised for being single

Hyderabad: The daughter of a retired IPS officer alleged that some residents of her apartment complex threatened her over a silly matter. Eunice Chawngthu, daughter of C Dothanga, IPS (Retd) here on Tuesday alleged that Telangana Youth Congress leader Tirumalesh Naidu’s family members, son of a former MLA of Karimnagar, wife of a retired SI and sister of a serving SI of Adilabad had threatened her regarding a pigeon hanging to her door.

Speaking to media persons here, Eunice Chawngthu said, “Some TV news channels, without taking my permission, shot my personal life in my apartment, which was irresponsible journalism. It caused me deep hurt and mental agony.” She explained that she did not communicate with the residents of the apartment because they could not speak English or Hindi.

Eunice Chawngthu said that the house owner Parvathi Devi had asked her to vacate the premises on flimsy grounds that she needed the flat for her daughter-in-law. The apartment did have a registered society and involved in litigation and a case was pending before the Hyderabad High Court, she said.

She also alleged that residents of the apartment complex were harassing her because she was living alone. “This is nothing but racism and discrimination against single women. I faced an attack on my life on November 27, 2015.

The Banjara Hills police not only failed to take action against the accused but they filed an FIR against me. The residents have been pestering me for being the daughter of a retired IPS officer,” she alleged.
