Khammam: Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao assured the farmers of supplying uninterrupted power for nine hours from Dasara festival. The Minister participated in various developmental programmes in Khammam on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nageshwar Rao ordered the officials of various departments to complete the works within six months, to which he laid foundation stones on Wednesday.

He alleged that the previous governments have wasted a lot of money in the name of Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects without starting any works. Water would be supplied to every acre of land for irrigation purpose in the district after constructing the Sri Ram Sagar Project and diversion of Godavari water into Palair and Wyra reservoirs would solve water scarcity in Thirumlayapalem and Vemsoor mandals, he added.

The government is ready to encourage those farmers, who were interested in cultivating the land through drip irrigation methods and it had allotted Rs 2,000 crore for the purpose. Instead of using chemical fertilizers, usage of organic manures will boost up the yield by bringing more profits to the farmers along with enriching the fertility of the soil, he said.

Godowns would be constructed for the benefit of farmers to store their produce and sell it when they get good price in the market, he added. Cases will be registered on tractor drivers, who use heavy iron wheels which will damage the roads, warned the R&B Minister. DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, R&B senior engineer Lingaiah, MPP Jagannadham and ZPTC Basha were present along with others.
