5 crore saplings to be planted
The government targets to plant five crore saplings in the district in 2016-17 under Haritha Haram programme. Informing this to the officials of Forest department and DWMA during a review meeting here on Friday, District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy directed them to prepare an action plan to achieve the target.

He told them to provide facilities to nurseries to grow saplings of different varieties and directed the Forest department officials to identify land for nurseries.
Expressing anger over non-preparation of plan for planting saplings even though February month is nearing to end, the Collector warned the officials that postponement of work would not be tolerated in any way.
They were also told to prepare action plan to plant saplings on the premises of schools, colleges, bus stands, sub-stations, fire stations, market yards and industries.
