Khammam: The 21-year-old techie, Palakurthy Anitha, is the youngest among all the candidates contesting in the ensuing elections to the civic body of the Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC). Out of which, there are two medical doctors. It’s also learnt that there are around 20 illiterates in the contest as well. On the other hand, the young techie, who graduated from Lakshya Engineering College, is the daughter of senior Congress leader and former councilor P Nageswara Rao.

Incidentally, she is now contesting from the same ward which her father had represented between 2000 and 2005. However, then the number of the ward was 20 and now it’s 15th Division. Speaking to The Hans India, Anitha said: “My father is my inspiration. And I am here in the poll fray with the support of my father.” Referring to her campaigning, she said that people were kind enough to receive her.

I have a fair idea of issues faced by the people in Sambhani Nagar area. Among the two doctors in the poll fray, the 62-year-old Dr Guguloth Papalal, a retired District Coordinator of Hospital Services (DCHS), and 31-year-old Kanuri Vennela, a medical practitioner. While Dr Papalal is contesting on the ticket of ruling TRS from Division 2, Dr Vennela is in the fray as a CPI (M) candidate from 31st Division.

Among the students fraternity, 22-year-old Sade Sai Divya is the second youngest candidate in the poll fray. She is contesting from the 44th Division as YSR Congress candidate. She is studying B Com. Among the men, 24-year-old Irri Vijay Kumar, who is studying MBA, is the youngest in the poll fray testing his luck as an independent candidate from the 39th Division.
