Speaking at a review meeting of State Level Bankers Committee here, Dattatreya said around Rs 1.85 lakh crore had been allocated in the recent budget for the purpose.

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya said the Union government was planning to give loans to nearly 15 crore people in the country under the “Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana”(PMMY) scheme. Speaking at a review meeting of State Level Bankers Committee here, Dattatreya said around Rs 1.85 lakh crore had been allocated in the recent budget for the purpose.

At present, there were nearly three crore people benefitting through PMMY. The government intended to provide the loans mainly for the women entrepreneurs belonging to the Backward Classes, he said. Informing on the number of persons benefitted through the scheme, the Union Minister said nearly 3.50 lakh in Telangana State and 6.18 lakh in Andhra Pradesh were granted loans.

There were three different categories of beneficiaries who were eligble for loans. Under Shishu category, TS got Rs 550 crore, AP Rs1,049 crore, under Kishore category TS Rs 2,731 crore, AP Rs 2,731 crore, under Tharun category TS Rs 754 crore and AP Rs 874 crore.

Around Rs 25,065 crore were disbursed towards loans for the farmers in Telangana State up to December last year. SBH Managing Director Santanu Mukherjee was present.
