Karimnagar: Guntaka Srihari (45), who was absconding for the past six years was arrested by Korutla police on Thursday and handed over to Mumbai police. A resident of Gambeerpur of Kathalapur mandal, Srihari was sentenced life imprisonment by Maharastra High Court in 2004 in connection with a murder case that took place in Mumbai in 1992. In 2010, he got released from the jail on parole and since then he was absconding.

On receiving reliable information, a police team led by Korutla Circle Inspector Rajasekhar Raju and Kathalapur Sub-Inspector Niranjan Reddy detained the accused at his residence on Thursday. Srihari was handed over to the policmen of MN Joshi Margh police station, Mumbai.

It is learnt that Srihari had been promising the police that he would surrender over the last two years but in vain. Anticipating that he was deliberately prolonging the issue, police went to his residence and detained him. Mumbai police arrived here as they were informed well in advance.
