Mahbubnagar: With Swachh Bharat programme being implemented in a big way in Mahbubnagar, the District Collector, Dr. T.K.Sridevi, is planning to send nominations of more than 40 villages for Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan Award

Interacting with Parameswaran, the Secretary of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India, through video conference, Sridevi said that under Grama Jyothi scheme, all the villages across the district have been sensitised about the importance of sanitation and the construction of individual latrines and sink pits and added that dump yards were being constructed on a war footing with the approval of sanitary committees in those villages.

“We have created awareness among villagers on the ill effects of open defecation on health and have taken necessary steps for the construction 100 per cent individual latrines and dump yards in Shadnagar and Achampeta mandals. Similarly, the construction works of ILs and dump yards are under various stages of progress in Wanaparthy and Ghanapur mandals,” said the Collector. If everything goes as per plan, the Collector wants to send nominations of more than 40 villages for Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan Award.
