Khammam: Lack of coordination between departments is resulting in people being deprived of benefits of several welfare schemes introduced by the government, Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswar Rao said. Reviewing the progress of the developmental works in Manuguru and Yellandu on Thursday, the Minister told the district officials to work in tandem at grass-root level to know the problems faced by the people and to achieve the desired results.

“It’s high time to focus on drinking water crisis. This apart, the officials had to ensure that all welfare plans reach the targeted groups,” Tummala said, directing the heads of various departments to take fool-proof steps to minimise the role of middlemen. He instructed District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar to give preference to those working in tribal areas during the transfers.

“Be compassionate while dealing with the problems of the tribals,” the Minister told the officials. He told the engineers to plan the construction of bridges in such a way that water could be stored. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated several developmental works in Aswapuram and Burgampadu mandals.

He was accompanied by Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateswarlu, MLC B Laxminarayana, ZP chairperson G Kavitha, district collector DS Lokesh Kumar, ITDA project officer Rajiv Gandhi Hanmanthu and other officials.
