The District TB Department organised a programme with the slogan Mingle Hand and Prevent the TB at Ambedkar Bhavan, in which Collector Yogita Rana participated as the chief guest.

Nizamabad: Tuberculosis (TB) is a preventive disease, but if neglected it would be harmful to others, said District Collector Yogita Rana. The Collector flagged off a rally here on Thursday on the occasion of ‘World Tuberculosis Day’. The District TB Department organised a programme with the slogan ‘Mingle Hand and Prevent the TB’ at Ambedkar Bhavan, in which Collector Yogita Rana participated as the chief guest.

Rana said that according to WHO statistics, there were nearly 8.8 million TB patients in the world and one thirds of this was in our country. Earlier TB disease was neglected in the country, but now the government was giving special focus on this disease and implementing modified TB prevention system, she added.

The Collector said that TB diagnostic facility was provided in all PHCs and regional hospitals, provided 26 designated microscope centers in the district. ‘If anyone has cough and fever continuously for two weeks, weight loss, chest pain, appearing blood in sputum are symbols for Tuberculosis. They should immediately go to hospital and undergo TB tests and takes DOTS treatment,’ collector added.

The Collector and SP Chandrashekhar Reddy released information brochure about TB and conducted awareness programmes on the occasion. District TB Control Officer Dr DineshKumar, IMA district president Dr Suresh Kumar and others participated in the programme.
