Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s ‘Bus Yatra’ in Telangana is mostly going to be postponed owing to the prevailing drought and heat wave conditions. The Chief Minister had announced the Bus Yatra in April in order to review the progress of various developmental activities and welfare schemes being implemented in the districts by the TRS government.
However, with the drought conditions and districts facing an unprecedented water crisis, KCR has been advised not to take up the Bus Yatra anytime soon.
The ground-level situation indicates that the irrigation projects and borewells have gone dry with no drinking water in villages and municipalities. The prevailing adverse conditions across the state has been put forth before the Chief Minister by the ministers and officials from districts. People are migrating in large numbers from districts to urban areas resulting in several villages almost becoming empty and also selling cattle due to lack of fodder, water for livelihood.
