Mayor sets example, digs perculation pit in his house
Leading by example from his residence, Mayor Nannapaneni Narender on Saturday launched a campaign to create awareness about rainwater harvesting in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) area. ​Warangal: Leading by example from his residence, Mayor Nannapaneni Narender on Saturday launched a campaign to create awareness about rainwater harvesting in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) area. At a time when the district is distraught by depleting groundwater levels, the initiative taken up by the Mayor is expected to catch the attention of the denizens in the tri-cities of Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet.
After launching the construction of rainwater harvesting pit in his residence near Under-bridge in Warangal, the Mayor emphasised the need for community participation that could address water scarcity more effectively. “There is no need to rely on the government all the time,” the Mayor said, urging the other corporators to follow the suit.
18th division Corporator Chamanthula Ushasri, GWMC DE Kondal Rao, AE Narender and TRSV urban vice-president Modem Praveen were among others present.
