Hyderabad: In a major boost to Laknavaram lake development, the Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned Rs 468.63 Lakh. The amount would be spent to improve facilities to attract tourists.

Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation managing director Christina Chongthu said, “The amount would be used for making the place more attractive.

Developmental activities include Jet Ski, cruises, speed boats, toilet blocks, auditorium and additional cottages to attract tourists.” The Laknavaram Lake attracts 2,000 tourists per day and the number doubles during holidays.

The 160-metre long hanging bridge is the special attraction. Cottages, built during the last one year by the department at the Island II 1.5 km away from the bridge, were inaugurated by Telangana Minister for Tourism Azmeera Chandulal on Saturday.

The tariff for wooden cottages is Rs 2,200 on weekdays and Rs 2,500 on weekends. The glazed cottages are priced at Rs 1,500 on weekdays and Rs 1,800 for weekends.

In addition to seven rooms, a restaurant, two wooden cottages at Island I, and two new glazed cottages were built and the two old wooden cottages have been refurbished.

TSTDC general manager Manohar says, “The boat ride to the Island II would be a major attraction. A garden has been developed in front of the guest house.”

The beautiful lake spread on a saucer-like land extending to about 10,000 acres is 65 km from Warangal and is set to become one of the major tourist attractions in the state.
