Hyderabad/Vijayawada: Telangana Telugu Desam Party working president A Revanth Reddy claimed to have secured a free hand to select party candidate to contest in Palair Assembly byelection. The bypoll is scheduled to be held on May 16.

TDPP president L Ramana, former MP Nama Nageshwar Rao, MLA Sandra Venkataveeraiah had also discussions with Naidu along with Revanth Reddy. Senior leader Motkupally Narasimhulu was not present.

Revanth Reddy said a final decision would be taken on fielding a candidate in Palair byelection after consulting all the party leaders. The party president had advised his party leaders to strive for strengthening of the party.

“At the time of Narayankhed byeelection, Congress did not consult us and all parties contested those elections. But this time, the Congress party approached us on Palair election. The CPI and YSRCP parties have informed us that they will not contest the election”, he added.

He said his party would decide after consulting all its leaders belonging to Telangana. The party would decided whether to contest or not or support the family member of MLA who died recently. Khammam district party leaders, however, were in favour of fielding former MP Nama Nageshwara Rao, he said.
