Hyderabad: Drawing out his plan of action for 100 days, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said Hyderabad would be turned into a clean and green city.

Participating in a ‘meet-the-press’ programme here on Saturday, Rammohan said they would implement the plan already drawn out by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for turning Hyderabad into a clean and green city.

Stating that rain water pits were mandatory for construction of houses and buildings, Bonthu asserted that 25 lakh saplings would be planted in a single day for the spread of green cover to reduce pollution problem.

Now that the summer action plan is being implemented, two reservoirs will be constructed in the GHMC area to cater to the drinking water needs of the citizens, Rammohan remarked.

As part of the Smart Parking plan, 100 places have already been selected, he said, adding that efforts were on to mitigate vehicle traffic woes in the city and adjoining areas.

Stringent steps will be taken if domestic waste, trash or any other waste material, including debris thrown on public places and roads instead of dustbins.

He also said plastic use in the city has to come down and plans are afoot to avoid its use gradually. Rammohan made it clear that the city will come under the surveillance of one lakh CC cameras towards measures for persistent protection.

“Sixty percent of the work is completed of the 100-day plan of city and GHMC development and the rest is under tender process,” he said.
