Khammam: Even as the ruling TRS cadres are on cloud nine following the party’s huge win in the Palair by-election, the speculation is rife that the party’s district president, Budan Baig Shaik, is the most probable candidate for the Council seat vacated by Tummala Nageswar Rao, who on Thursday elected from the Palair Assembly constituency.

It may be mentioned here that Tummala was inducted into the State Cabinet after he joined the ruling party in 2014. As it was mandatory for Tummala to be elected to either of the House to continue in the State Cabinet, the party ensured his election to the Council under MLAs quota last summer.

It may be mentioned here that Budan Baig contested Khammam Lok Sabha seat on TRS ticket in 2014 and lost the election. Party sources said that TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao is expected to announce Baig in a couple of days.
