Centre is committed to providing Rs 41,000 crore to Telangana for power sector development, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said here on Friday.
Hyderabad: Centre is committed to providing Rs 41,000 crore to Telangana for power sector development, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said here on Friday. Speaking to reporters after holding a review meeting with officials of different public sector units related to power sector here, Dattatreya said, "Rs 11,300 crore funds have been disbursed by the Centre already to the State.
The Centre is working towards providing electricity to each and every village in the country." The Centre is committed to providing Rs 41,000 crore to Telangana State for the power sector development and to improve efficiency of electricity distribution companies, transco and Power Generation Corporation that would enable 24 hours power in villages, he said.
Special focus would always be laid on the newly-formed Telangana State and required funds for the power sector development were being provided in the time-bound manner, he added. The proposed High Tension (HT) line between Wardha and Nizamabad would be completed as per the deadline. For the benefit of Hyderabad city, the HT lines would be laid up to Maheshwaram, he said.
"Towards reducing power wastage, the Centre is supplying LED bulbs. Nearly 4.5 lakh houses will be provided with LED bulbs", Dattatreya added.
Providing LED street lights, efficient agriculture water pump sets were also on the cards. Under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, Rs 15 crore was provided to 15 villages to give electricity facility for the BPL families, the senior BJP leader and Secunderabad MP said.
Dattatreya urged the Telangana State government to join UDAY scheme for the benefit of the new State. He further said all arrangements were being made for the foundation laying ceremony of NTPC power plant in Ramagundam (in Telangana), where Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the function.
