Mahbubnagar: With an aim to develop Mahbubnagar district into a model city, the State government started development works worth Rs 2.46 crore on Sunday.
As part of this effort, Mahbubnagar MP Jithender Reddy and MLA Srinivas Goud started the construction of B T road works worth Rs 86 lakh and Mission Kakatiya works worth Rs 36 lakh in Venkatapuram village.
Speaking on the occasion, Jithender Reddy said, “We want to develop Mahbubnagar into a model city (Adarsh Nagar) and accordingly planning the development works in the district. Last year we have spent more than Rs 500 crore under Mission Kakatiya and this year too we are doing our best to ensure adequate funds are allocated for renovating the lakes.”
For providing drinking water to Mahbubnagar, the State government had started constructing a reservoir costing Rs 406 crore on Manyam Konda hilltop. “With an aim to bring a comprehensive change in lives of the people, the State government has taken up multiple projects simultaneously. The Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation (PRRLI) and Mission Bhagiratha are the key projects for the district as they will provide both irrigation and drinking water to the district in the coming two years,” informed the MP. The MP said that after the completion of PRRLI all the lakes and ponds would be filled with Krishna water which would provide adequate water for both drinking and irrigation purposes.
“As majority people depend on the agriculture, these projects will help provide employment opportunities in the agriculture sector and in turn it will annul the migration and unemployment problems in the district,” opined the MP.
As part of making the district a model city, the State government is planning to construct modern drainages, expand the internal road network with four lanes and develop most modern parks and gardens in the city.
