Pargi (Ranga Reddy): The works for the first 100 mw wind power project in Telangana being set up by Mythri Energy at a cost of Rs 600 crore on the outskirt of Pargi town are being completed at a fast pace. It is scheduled to be launched in a month with the works taking a final shape by May-end.

The project is also the first of its kind to be taken up in the country. It will have 57 wind towers which generate power and transmit it to sub-stations through transformers.

As many as 47 towers are being located in Madharam, Kallapur, Sayyedpalli, Rapol, Qudavanpur, Chityal, Thondapalli villages (of Pargi constituency), Rakamcharla, Keravelli, Somangurthi in Pudur mandal, besides Padmaram, Elkagudem in Mahbubnagar district. Setting up of the project’s 132 kw sub-stations near Kallapur have been completed.

The generated wind power will be linked to the sub-station grid through electric poles. As against the normal height of 80-90 metres of the towers, those of the project are 125 metres tall, which cost more and also generate quality power, say experts.

Twenty of the towers have been completed at a cost of Rs 10 crore each, while the work of others is at a final stage. This technology is being used for the first time in Telangana. Representatives of Mythri Energy say a similar project is being taken up in Rajasthan.
