Osmania University (OU) is going to introduce biometric system for students from the academic year 2016-17. As per the new system, thumbprint of the students would be taken during entrance examinations and the same would be verified during counselling. It would also be useful for students for applying scholarships after getting admission.  

Hyderabad: Osmania University (OU) is going to introduce biometric system for students from the academic year 2016-17. As per the new system, thumbprint of the students would be taken during entrance examinations and the same would be verified during counselling. It would also be useful for students for applying scholarships after getting admission.

The university management hopes to eliminate the malpractices in the examination with this new system. Director Directorate of Admissions of OU Prof D Ashok said that there were the cases where the students use to send someone else for the exams. “Introducing biometric system will make the university error-free in finding malpractices,” he said.

The university is going to conduct entrance examinations for its 38 post graduate courses from May 6, 2016, which would last on May 14, 2016.

This year high competition was observed for Master of Computer course (M Com) which received highest number of applications (10,123 applications). Total 69,289 students would be appearing for OU entrance examinations 2016.
