CM encouraging defections with contractors money: Bhatti Vikramarka

Nizamabad: PCC Executive President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the previous Congress government had already allocated Rs 10,000 crore for the Pranahita-Chevella project and if the TRS government releases another Rs 26,000 crore, it would be completed. Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan in the town during his visit on Tuesday, he said that it was strange and surprising that the State government shifting the project to Kaleshwaram, has enhanced the costs of the project to Rs 83,000 crore.

Bhatti Vikramarka lashed out at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for encouraging defections of MLAs from the Congress with the money collected illegally from the contractors.

Instead of helping the poor and the downtrodden and the genuine beneficiaries, the government was registering the lands illegally collecting bribes from them and distributing that money to the political defectors , he alleged. Even lands were being registered in the name of the defecting MLAs and MPs, he lamented.

Bhatti said that encouraging defections through bribes from contractors would turn out to be the biggest scam in the country. Coming down heavily on the government for grabbing lands forcibly from the farmers to construct projects by issuing GO No. 123, he said that it was against the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013.

He also criticised the government for remaining indifferent to the plight of thousands of workers of Sirpur Paper Mills who were thrown out on the streets when the factory was shut down.

Even the Nizam Sugars Limited, which was a jewel in the crown of the Telangana State was not reopened, thus causing lot of hardship to the workers. He said that at the time of 2014 general elections, the TRS promised thousands of jobs to the youths by reopening and setting up of several new factories but went back on its promise after coming to power.

The PCC working president alleged that the MLAs and MPs of Nizamabad district have formed a sand mafia and started illegal quarrying of sand from river banks and thus, looting the natural resources. He demanded a judicial inquiry into the purchase and sale of tractors and other agricultural equipment in the department of agriculture.
